Scrum Master - Contract Role

Location: Syosset, NY
Our client is a global information and measurement company with leading market positions in marketing and consumer information, television and other media measurement, online intelligence, and mobile measurement. They are looking for an experienced Scrum Master to help coordinate the development of real-time marketing analysis software tools that analyze consumer shopping behavior and provide an understanding of product marketing and sales performance in order to make critical decisions that drive manufacturer and retailer sales. This contract will last 3-6 months.
The Scrum Master will work with an established team of software engineers, data scientists, and product managers to guide sprint work through to delivery. The Scrum Master team is responsible for championing Agile values and Scrum best practice through facilitation of Scrum ceremonies, eliminating impediments for the team, holding the team accountable to their Sprint Commitments, and encouraging an environment of continuous improvement. The Scrum Master will coach and motivate the team to help find ways of improving efficiency through facilitation of discussion, decision making, and retrospective learning.
 
What you’ll do:
•     Acts as a Servant Leader by coaching and mentoring their team on Agile Values and Scrum Best Practices
•     Works with their team and Product Owner to create and commit to achievable Sprint plans
•     Facilitates all Scrum Ceremonies (Daily Scrum, Sprint Planning, Backlog Grooming, Retrospectives and Demos)
•     Protects the team and the quality of the software by enforcing the Scrum process and ensuring the Definition of Done is met on all user stories in Sprint
•     Represents the team as an information radiator at the Scrum of Scrums
•     Relentlessly encourages their team to find ways to improve and become more efficient
•     Coaches the team on how to do relative estimating and participate in the estimation process
•     Removes impediments that the team face during a Sprint to ensure Sprint Commitments can be delivered
•     Manages impediments log while proactively providing mitigation options to maintain Sprint commitments
•     Monitors and communicates team metrics (ex. Velocity, Burndown) to provide visibility on team progress
 
You should have:
  • Overall 2-4 years experience as a scrum master working on agile projects. 
  • Experience working with distributed team (on and off shore)
  • Several years experience in technology programming/testing background
  • Preference for candidates that are Certified Scrum Masters
